The Union Académique Internationale (International Union of Academies) is an international alliance of national academies in the fields of the humanities and the social sciences.

Founded in Paris in 1919 with a general secretariat based in Brussels, the UAI currently has a membership of more than a hundred academies and learned societies from 63 countries. Its basic aims are to initiate, promote, foster and finance long-term international research projects in the Humanities and Social Sciences.

UAI support has led to the publication of more than 3,000 books, many in series providing research scholars with fundamental reference tools such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, and critical text editions.

China and the Mediterranean World

This repository forms a pilot project addressing long-term research data preservation for UAI's activities. It employs the InvenioRDM software platfrom developed by an international consortium led by CERN, the European Centre for Nuclear Research in Geneva. By aligning with the InvenioRDM strategy, which includes the European Commission's Zenodo catch-all repository for global research data, UAI is building state-of-the-art digital infrastructure which overcomes technical obsolescence.
